Seamless Civil Works for Silo Complexes & Grain Storage
From intake to dispatch, we build the infrastructure that powers your grain operation.
TGCSC specializes in the civil works and supporting infrastructure for steel bin silo complexes and mass grain storage facilities. We work closely with engineers and specialist suppliers to build to specification, ensuring a durable foundation for high-capacity storage and grain handling systems.
Whether you’re upgrading an existing site or developing a new facility, we deliver the structural groundwork and siteworks needed to support grain handling equipment, silo bases, and all associated infrastructure for reliable, future-ready operations.
Steel Bin Silo Complex Civils
Silo bases, handling facilities, and siteworks you can trust.
Silo Bases
Aerated and non-aerated silo bases
Engineered to handle capacities of up to 10,000 tons per silo.
Grain Handling Facilities
Intake, dispatch, and loading infrastructure – including intake hoppers (up to 70 tons), dispatch/loading facilities, and weighbridges
Grain handling support – elevator pit and trenches for conveyor systems, reclaim trenches/tunnels, and grain cleaner bases
Processing facilities infrastructure – dryer facility base and control rooms
Structural foundations and supporting infrastructure – foundations, floors, walls, and bases for all specialist systems

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our clients range from private commercial farmers to large-scale operations, including feed factories and farmer cooperatives. We manage:
New construction for greenfield projects
Upgrades and expansions of existing facilities
-
No, we don’t design silo complexes but works closely with engineers and specialist suppliers to build to specification.
-
No. We focus exclusively on the civil construction (“wet work”) — including foundations, floors, walls, trenches, and bases for equipment. Specialist suppliers handle the installation of silos, dryers, conveyors, and other mechanical or electrical systems. We can connect you with trusted suppliers from our Preferred Partner network.
-
No. We don’t install equipment like dryers, conveyors, or storage systems. Our role is to build the bases, tunnels, trenches, and supporting infrastructure these systems require. We can refer you to trusted suppliers from our Preferred Partner network.
-
Rates are for civil concrete construction only and exclude steel silos and handling equipment. Costs depend on project scope provided by the engineer and/or supplier. Examples:
New basic complex — 2x 48" silo bases, 4x4x5m elevator pit, intake hopper (40 ton) with cover, and siteworks: approx R3 million
Adding a new silo to an existing complex — approx R1,000–R1,500 per foot diameter of silo base
-
Yes. Whether you’re increasing capacity, improving site access, or adding new handling systems, we manage upgrades and expansions alongside new construction.
-
To keep projects efficient and on schedule, we don’t install or supply:
Electrical and power systems
Plumbing or water management systems
Steel silo construction or handling equipment
Specialized grain processing systems
We build the supporting infrastructure for all of these systems — including foundations, trenches, pits, and cold-resistant concrete floors — and can refer you to our trusted partners for the installation.
-
We can source and oversee earthworks, but a cost-effective option is for the client to handle the preliminary earthworks — creating the platform and digging trenches for drainage.
Professional earthworks is essential for every project, as an incorrectly compacted platform can lead to structural failures under load.
“The Sparta Group initiated a four year project to expand and upgrade our infrastructure. TG Corver & Seuns were the obvious choice for this long term commitment, and they’ve delivered! Our new bulk water storage facilities, feed mill, and weigh bridges have taken our productivity to a whole new level.”
